Suspicious minds
Interesting conversation today got me thinking.
Communication must have changed so much over the past 50 years or so. Internet marketing, spam, unsolicited calls etc - all put us on the back foot of belief.
We read something or we hear something and we automatically get a bit cynical. Is it too good to be true? Are they out for my money? Whats the real motive?
Is it possible all of these things have an impact on our minds?
Absolutely, no doubt. Imagine the impact of constant bombardments of half truths, lies and manipulative tactics. Like any form of defense we will go into fight or flight mode. This will lead to stress. This leads to problems.
Think of the practical consequences in relationships too. Is it possible to trust someone 100% when our default response is “is he/she lying?” Think of the damage, unseen and unknown, that this can cause in our friendships, our love lifes, our family ties. Not to mention the modern day battleground that is The Office.
Our minds struggle with this way of living at the best of times - think of the additional stress we place it under.
It makes you think doesn’t it?
